Privacy Policy

Who we are

AKA Word is provided by AKA Technologies AS, Norwegian organisation number 938 208 778. Questions about privacy can be sent to personvern@aka-technologies.no.

Game data

Game progress, settings, hint balance, local profile name and statistics are stored on your device. AKA Word does not require personal registration, an email address or a public profile.

Private online matches

When you first choose a friend or family match, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous technical player ID. The private room code, chosen display name, match settings, guesses, placement and score are processed through Google Firebase to synchronise the match between supported iPhone and Android devices. Rooms are not publicly searchable and there is no chat. Inactive rooms and their secret match data are automatically deleted after 24 hours.

Advertising

The free version uses Google AdMob to show advertisements at natural breaks, never during active gameplay. You may also voluntarily choose a rewarded advertisement to receive one hint. Purchasing Ad-free removes ordinary and forced advertisements; voluntary rewarded hint advertisements remain available only when you actively choose them. Google and its partners may process device identifiers, IP address, diagnostic information, ad interactions and approximate location derived from the IP address to deliver, secure and measure advertising.

Purchases

The optional one-time Ad-free purchase is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. AKA Technologies receives purchase status and transaction references needed to provide and restore the purchase, but does not receive your full payment-card details.

Consent and choices

Where required, Google's consent platform asks for your choices before advertising is requested. On iOS, AKA Word also uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before an advertising identifier can be used to measure advertising across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you decline, the IDFA is not sent and the app continues with non-personalized advertising. You can review available advertising privacy choices in the app and limit or reset advertising identifiers in your device settings.

Sharing

If you choose to share a game result, the app passes the result text to the sharing service you select on your device. AKA Word does not post it automatically.

Children

AKA Word is not directed to children. Advertising requests are limited to Google's G-rated ad inventory.

Third parties and security

Apple App Store, Google Play, Google Firebase and Google AdMob process data needed for their stated functions under their own terms. This may include technical user or device identifiers, IP address, app interactions, diagnostics and the multiplayer content described above. Data sent over the network is protected in transit. Your rights and deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority. You can delete the anonymous online player ID and your stored room participation directly at Profile > Privacy > Delete online player data. A new anonymous ID is created only if you later use online play again. Local game data can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it. Changes

We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
